I have gotten several Kindle books from Baby Professor and most of them I have really enjoyed. This particular product is meant for first graders and it is about the early Pilgrims of America. The book starts off with short, simple explanations of what a pilgrim is and who the Pilgrims are that we always talk about. There are very cool illustrations in this book. The book also explains why they were called “Separatists” and how they left on their journey across the Atlantic Ocean. The book goes over the Mayflower Compact and what it meant to the Pilgrims. Then it talks about the first Thanksgiving feast – although it glosses over a lot of details with that. I have a child in kindergarten and a child in first grade. I think this is a cute book to start a discussion, but it’s pretty simplified for a first grader. Of course this book isn’t meant to be an entire history book or anything like that. When the Thanksgiving season comes around you could easily use this as a supplement to talk about the Pilgrims and look at some of the pictures. There are pictures of the homes they probably lived in and pictures of ships, and drawings of the Pilgrims and the Indians that are very interesting. I wish the pictures told more details. I wish that the drawing of the Pilgrims would say who the artist was. Then we could go more into detail and look up more by that artist. I wish that the picture of the boat would tell where that picture was taken. Was that the actual ship that the Pilgrims took? Is it just a random ship in a harbor? I have no idea, so don’t know what to tell my children. All in all this is a cute supplemental book but you will have to add a lot to it to make it worth it for a first grader or above, in my opinion. I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review.

This book belongs to Baby Professor (Speedy Publishing) 1st Grade Collection. It is an good introductory book with plain, simple and basic knowledge for any small children to learn either at home or school. These kind of books can spark an interest that may continue on for several days or weeks.

This particular book deals about America's first pilgrims as a short and concise book pertaining to our earliest settlers. It has lovely illustrations and photos that can be discussed with children while reading this book. The concepts included about the Pilgrims, their reasons to travel to American Soil and the following is something to consider and to discuss with children as well.

Great book, I did like it a lot and I do recommend to anyone.

1st grade American history

I have a kindergartener and a 3rd grader which for me we have been battling public vs home schooling. I have been doing extra things for them here at home because at public schools they do not get that one on one attention they need in any subjects they may need. I try and find books and learning equipment via the Kindle app or books. I like the Kindle books because you do not have to worry about what page you were on all your tablets, phones, etc can all be synced so you can see where your child is at. This book is super easy to read and has even some information my daughter who is in 3rd grade didn't know. I like how detailed it is as well.

Excellent book on communication for the workplace.

As a psychologist, I appreciate books that carefully translate research findings into practical advice. This book does this. Rather than claiming a "brand new never before seen magic solution" (be careful of those), the authors present an excellent systematic summary of what has been learned from decades of research on effective communication research. Although they present some of the research to help the reader understand, I recognized far more research findings that influence their advice than they bother to mention. They give some simple yet effective strategies for common communication problems such as "raising delicate issues", and "responding to criticism". Careful explanations are given for how to prepare for and respond to such situations. The authors avoid the common approach of authors of giving one "right" response to problems, and instead guide the reader to understand the purpose of each step they recommend, allowing the reader far more flexibility in implementing the ideas taught. This allows the reader to create their own style without having an overly rehearsed feel to it.

I've read many books on communication, and this is the best one I've found so far. The authors take care to clarify how various problems can arise, and offer useful advice for dealing with them. This book is far more complete than many "pop press" books on the topic, which are more about sounding fancy and fun to read than actually being useful. Nevertheless, this book is surprisingly easy to read. There is appropriate repetition, elaboration and suggestions for practice to actually help the interested reader learn the skills taught and understand why they are helpful.

As an HR professional with over 20 years of practical experience (and an Adjunct Faculty member at Portland State University) I have found the Glaser's new work to be useful, practical as well as entertaining reading. Their insights and examples have helped me craft class discussions concerning the power of actively listening to the words of others.
