These tales are definitely sinister, but in the best way possible. So many of the tales are connected, and have amazing plot twists. Each tale keeps you on your toes Furthermore, each and every tale differs from the next, so it never gets boring. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes the horror genre!

Future potential, just not this book

I've developed an affection for short stories as of late, especially in the horror genre. I blame re-reading Stephen King, for this, a true master at both long novels and short stories. So when I find a new collection, even by a new author, regardless of some of the previous reviews, I give them a try. Which brings me to this book.

I read this book and actually waited awhile before I sat down to write this review. I was all set to give a much lower rating, when I happened upon the authors biography. After reading that, and finding out how young she is, I changed my review.

This is not a bad collection of short stories. In fact I see great potential in this author. I think that as she get a little older, has more life experience as well as writing experience, we will see some really good stuff......just not this book. I will say that for the most part, the stories kept my interest. And I did finish the book, although I almost didn't. I don't want this review to either discourage potential readers, because it is interesting. I also don't want the author to think that I'm criticizing her, because as I said, I think she has talent. I do hope to read future books, although I might wait awhile before I read her next one.

I would love this book, truly. I didn't realize it was a young YA book, and I mean young, when I downloaded it. Plenty of gore, plenty of scary things that go (literally) bump in the night, and plenty of ideas that will keep you awake at night.

British Intel from D-Day to VE-Day

This is again an excellent review of what the British intel knew prior to D-Day and through the end of the war. Of course, at this point they were 5 years into the war so they had a much better handle on things than in 1939 and 1940 (see Volume 1). The book covers the good, the bad and the uncertain. As usual, intel sources came up with a variety of different estimates of things such as the V-Weapon program of Germany. It was interesting to know that some significant intel came from diplomatic sources. This is the first volume that I can remember addressing the German A-Bomb effort (which wasn't much). It is not nearly as thorough as Alsos, but it is something. There is a lot today that can be learned from what happened in the past (and what was not done). The British are excellent at thorough documentation, and this is a great source.
