many practical tools

This is a voluminous text, that goes into a lot of details about operations management. Many practical, line management issues. Where you, as a manager, or perhaps as a small business owner, have to confront gritty details. For example, if you are in a large manufacturing company, 6 sigma is a well known method for quality control. So the book describes how to analyse the production flow, with tools like fishbone diagrams. Then, to improve production, you can use an opportunity flow diagram, to focus on value added functions.
Another topic is the managing of queues. There is considerable maths theory in the modelling of such queues. The text has several such models, with accompanying equations. It would help the reader to have some background in maths, including university level courses.
Higher level ideas are also considered. Including how to decide on facility location. Where many variables need to be collectively optimised. To minimise transportation costs and time with respect to suppliers and customers. Where a supplier or customer might be another factory or warehouse in your company.
